Model warship combat is a game of simulated combat between fleets of model ships. Each ship is modeled after a ship that was actually built between 1906 and 1946. The parent organization keeps a running tab of ships eligible to be built (see link below). In general ships a captain will select a ship based on personal interest, the ship’s historical importance, their scarcity in our hobby, expense, the ease of building, the availability of orderable hulls, or arguably most importantly their combat effectiveness. Not all ships were created equally in the framework of the game. Each ship has various attributes that makes them easier or harder to build and battle and thus more or less effective on the water. The best way to figure out which ship is right for you is by talking with experienced battlers and by using a loaner ship in combat to get a taste of what might work best for you. Inexperienced captains are generally pointed towards cruisers due to ease of construction and upkeep however if up to the task a battlecruiser can have a higher fun factor while maintaining a level of simplicity.
